I cannot say for certain. If it had always been legal, it may not have the reputation that it currently has. Perhaps, it would be one of those things like cigarettes or alchohol. While I've never tried the cancer sticks, I have tried alchohol. And so it is possible that I would have tried pot. Especially if everyone was doing it and it was readily available.
However, if I found out it was addictive, I probably wouldn't try it. I try to stay away from addictions.
I do like to eat those things. I suppose the problem I have is that it seems hard for me to see people getting addicted to specific foods. However, apparently it can happen, according to this article: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/85/98821.htm
So just eliminate the last sentence from my original response.

Um, you eat chocolate and sugar, don't you? Those are addictive.
